I just finished the book The Personal MBA, and today I’m recommending it to you. People are talking about how MBAs are becoming commoditized and there’s so much information out there, and I think The Personal MBA is good because it tells you about the ins and outs of businesses you might not know about.
- The Personal MBA talks about things like willpower, distribution, and the basics of business. [01:26]
- If you haven’t had a formal business education, The Personal MBA is a good book to get you kickstarted with business because it has definitions in each chapter and is broken down by distribution, operations, management, financials, etc. It also gives examples of each and how it might apply to your business. [01:37]
- It’s a simple and quick read. Layering this book with a program like Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, Khan Academy, or MBA Bullshit on YouTube will give you a better fundamental understanding of how business actually works. [02:06]
- If you want more stories around business, The Hard Thing About Hard Things and Mark Cuban’s book are really good. [02:35]
While we are on the topic of books, another book recommendation I have that I just have finished actually is the Personal MBA.
People are talking about how MBAs are becoming commoditized. There is so much information out there. The Personal MBA is a good start. I have talked about other things in the past such as Goldman Sachsâ 10,000 Small Businesses. But, The Personal MBA is a good book because it tells you the ins and outs of businesses that you probably might not know about. Itâll talk about things such as will power. Itâll talk about distribution and sales. Youâll also learn about what you need to do, the basics of business pretty much.
If you havenât had a formal business education, The Personal MBA is good. Itâs a good book too to get your kick start toward that stuff because what it does is it has a certain definitions in each chapter and things are broken up by like distribution operations, management, that type of stuff, financial s as well and then what it does is it has certain definitions for terms that I use throughout business and itâll talk about examples. Itâll talk about on how it might apply to your business and itâs a really simple read and itâs a quick read as well.
So, checking that out and layering that on top of something like 10,000 Small Businesses and maybe going online to like a Khan Academy or Coursera, YouTube, I recommended MBA Bullshit the channel in the past on YouTube. Just combining all of these will get you a better understanding, better fundamental understanding on how business actually works. This is the book that I recommend.
If you want more stories around business, The Hard Thing About Hard Things is good. Mark Cubanâs book, I forgot what the title is but itâs only $3.00. Itâs pretty much a compilation of his blog posts. Thatâs also good for stories as well. Starting with the Personal MBA will be a good start but obviously, the learning doesnât stop there. Thatâs one of my book recommendations if you are looking into at least get a general understanding of how business is and then start from refining from there.
